Sitting the LAT by remote proctoring
To sit the test by remote proctoring, you should be seated and ready to begin your test at the time of your scheduled test session. You must have previously downloaded the Meazure Learning's Guardian Browser. You need to login to your Meazure Learning ProctorU account before the scheduled test time. You must have:
- your printed Admission Ticket
- current photo-bearing Identification document
- blue/black pen and/or pencil
- handheld mirror/reflective device or mobile phone with a forward-facing camera to show your proctor what is around your monitor
- (optional items) eraser, sharpener, blank A4 sheet of paper (for response planning) and clear bottle of water.
You can use the reverse page of the printed Admission Ticket to plan your responses. You can bring 1 extra sheet of blank A4 paper for planning if desired.
When you connect to your remote proctor, your Admission Ticket and photo ID will be checked and your photo will be taken by the proctor. You will also be asked to use your webcam, mirror or similar reflective device to scan your test room and computer screen to ensure they meet the requirements before you are permitted to start the test. You may be asked to scan your test room and computer screen again during the test session if your remote proctor suspects any act of misconduct.
Please note that pre-test procedures typically take at least 15 to 30 minutes to complete however, they may take longer if you experience technical issues. Please allow up to 4 hours (or more in the event of technical issues) for your test session. After the administrative checks have been completed, your proctor will run the ACER online test application on your computer to allow you to sit your test. You will not be able to sit your test if you do not have the ACER online test application installed on your computer, or if your computer is unable to run the application. Unpermitted programs will be detected by the ACER online test application while you are sitting the test. Your test will be locked and you will not be able to continue the test if such programs are detected. Hence, please ensure any remote controlling software such as TeamViewer and VNC have been disabled or uninstalled on your computer before you sit the test.
On your test day, you will need to enter your username and password to access the test application. This will be the same username and password that you used to register for LAT. Your username will be detailed on your Admission Ticket however, you will need to know what your password is. Please ensure that you know your password and you are not relying on autofill to enter this information.

Test room requirements
Before your scheduled test session, you must ensure your test room is set up to these requirements:
- An appropriate workstation on a stable desk.
- A private, enclosed room with a non-transparent background that is free from distractions, noise and prohibited materials. No other person (including dependent children or animals) is permitted in the test room. Proctors may require you to move your sitting position or change to a different room on your test day if they believe your sitting position or test room is not suitable.
- Suitable temperature, lighting and ventilation.

You are advised to eat a meal before your scheduled test session. You will not be allowed to have any food or drink, other than bottled water or a clear glass of water on your desk.
Test delivery
The test will be administered under secure test conditions which will be strictly enforced at all times. You will be monitored at all times during the test session and you must follow the instructions of your remote proctor. Failure to comply with the instructions of the remote proctor will be considered as misconduct.
You may use the bathroom during test time and your identity will be verified and your test room scanned again after the break. No additional test time will be given. You will need to ask your remote proctor for permission to use the bathroom and this will be recorded in your session report.
During your test session, the following actions may need to be taken by your remote proctor to ensure that your test is administered securely and within the test rules:
- Communicate with you via the chat box or audio if there is an issue.
- Ask you to adjust your webcam in order to be able to see your face and what you are doing clearly during the entire test session. If you are planning to use a laptop when you sit the test and the angle of the integrated webcam is not adjustable, you may consider using an external webcam.
- Transfer you to another remote proctor or technician.
- Pause your test session to check your equipment or to resolve a technical issue. In such instances, the test timer may need to be paused depending on the severity of the issue.
If you act in a manner that is intentionally disruptive, offensive or abusive during your test session or after the test, or if you engage in any of the acts listed as misconduct, the proctor will give you a warning, and they may stop your test session if you repeatedly engage in the behaviour after the warning. In such cases, ProctorU will provide an incident report to ACER. You will also have to contact ACER immediately by email or by using the message function in your ACER candidate account after your test session in order to resolve the matter.
Your entire test session will be recorded by Meazure Learning including your chat logs with proctors, the video recordings of your webcam and your computer desktop, and ACER will have access to the full records.
Technical issues
Meazure Learning will provide support through online technicians if there are technical issues during the test sessions.
If you experience any issues (for example, technical or connection problems) during your test session, you should communicate these to your remote proctor immediately so that they may be resolved.
If your remote proctor cannot resolve your issues, or for any other queries and concerns you may have regarding your test session, please contact the LAT Office immediately, so that the issue can be addressed without delay.
If you need to report an issue to the LAT Office regarding your remote proctoring test session, please provide as much information as possible. The LAT Office will investigate each case and determine suitable follow-up action.
If there are significant and/or unforeseeable technical problems that cannot be resolved by the remote proctor, a test session may need to be rescheduled. Where candidates have either not started or are unable to complete their test due to connection, equipment-related or technical issues, a test session will need to be rescheduled as soon as possible. Sessions should preferably be rescheduled by 5 pm AEST on that same day, Thursday 28 September 2023. ACER will review each case and take into account the local time at the candidate’s location. It is critical for candidates to re-sit their unstarted/incomplete test as soon as possible.
In extreme cases in which candidates are unable to complete their test by 5 pm AEST on Thursday 28 September 2023, special consideration may be given for the candidates to reschedule and start their test by 1 pm AEST on Thursday 5 October 2023. Candidates will have to sit the rescheduled test at the agreed time. No further extension will be granted. Candidates who have not started the test by 1 pm AEST on Thursday 5 October 2023 will not be able to sit the test. For candidates who have started but not completed the test, their test will be marked based on the responses they have provided.
